TrueDelta Reviews the Seat Room and Comfort of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Seat Room and Comfort: Pros
YearComment
2013 You can buy a BMW X5 or Porsche Cayenne with tame front seats, but not the Grand Cherokee SRT8. In the Jeep, SRT's signature buckets are standard. Large, firm bolsters provide excellent lateral support even to those of us with slender builds. Yet they're also comfortable, with enough padding to avoid park bench references. The four-way adjustable lumbar didn't do much for my back, but your experience may vary. Moving to the back seat, the Grand Cherokee's growth adds a couple of badly needed inches to legroom. With this improvement the Grand Cherokee only matches other similarly sized SUVs, so it's not a reason to buy. But rear seat legroom is no longer a reason not to buy, so it bears mentioning. see full Jeep Grand Cherokee review

They are harder than I would like. I came from an F150 with the luxury package and the seats were amazing, these sears are hard and could be improved upon by being softer. see full Jeep Grand Cherokee review

TrueDelta Reviews the Powertrain of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Powertrain: Pros
YearComment
2013 Compared to its predecessor, the fourth-generation Grand Cherokee is 3.2 inches longer, 3.0 inches wider, and 1.7 inches taller. Consider this substantial growth and the SUV's greater refinement, and a 424-pound weight gain shouldn't surprise. But weight is the enemy of performance. To counteract this gain, Chrysler bumped the SRT V8's size by 0.3 liters, to 6.4, and its output by 50 horsepower. Pit 470 horsepower against 5,150 pounds, and sixty mph arrives in less than five seconds despite the mediation of a somewhat slow-witted, tall-geared five-speed automatic. The big V8 still rumbles and roars, but its vocals are less raw and less loud. Good for competing with the big(ger) buck Germans, not so good for spine-tingling thrills. The 2014, due in March, 2013, should be quicker and more responsive thanks to an eight-speed automatic with launch control. see full Jeep Grand Cherokee review

2012 4dr SUV 360-horsepower 5.7L V8
5-speed shiftable automatic AWD w/low range
Special ordered and have owned since May 2012. Can't say enough about engine performance and smoothness. After test driving a unit with the Pentastar V6 and finding it too underpowered, chose the 5.7L Hemi. More than enough power under all circumstances and STILL cannot get over how quiet and smooth this engine is at idle - have even exited the vehicle with the engine still running as you can neither feel or hear it running when sitting inside. Has more than enough power when passing on the highway and the only drawback is mileage.. Although not as good as stated, is still not bad. (Can't have the power if you don't use the fuel.) [Have a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 5.7 and a 2010 Charger SRT8 (6.1) and NEITHER runs as smoothly/quietly as this engine.] see full Jeep Grand Cherokee review

2011 4dr SUV 290-horsepower 3.6L V6
5-speed shiftable automatic AWD w/low range
It has low range four wheel drive and it is not a truck. 3.6 V6 loves to rev, so good power to pass. Transmission is well programmed to keep the engine in its power band. Performs very well for the size engine in a heavy vehicle. see full Jeep Grand Cherokee review
2011 4dr SUV 360-horsepower 5.7L V8

I have the Quadra lift and love it. The 4x4 performance in inclement weather is superior to anything I have owned in the past (come from a long background of 4x4 trucks). The handling makes me feel confident and safe. see full Jeep Grand Cherokee review

2012 4dr SUV 290-horsepower 3.6L V6

Before you start judging I know I put the power train & performance in my favorite section of the vehicle as well but if you really want to bring out the best of this vehicle you need to go for the optional 5.7L V8 Hemi engine because the 3.6L V6 Penta Star is just barely adequate to run this monster. P.S. Please keep in mind I'm not a car expert of any kind this review was purely based on my own experience and opinion Thank you. see full Jeep Grand Cherokee review
