The fender flares appear more subtle than they did in 2006.
Clean and purposeful, no frills.
Top has hard forward section that serves as a cover. Roll bars.
Performance and character fit the car, but mpg could be better.
Smiley opening added in 2009. Looks better without a front plate.
Classic sports car proportions.
Looks okay with the top up.
Not much to see here.
An excellent road for the new Mazda Miata. I wish I lived closer to southeastern Ohio.
ND Miata has a fiercer face, fuller curves, and a smaller windshield. Looks much larger than NA.
Long, voluptuous front end recalls the BMW Z3. And the current Jaguar F-Type. Too curvy?
The NC Miata had less dramatic yet also less timeless styling.
The MINI is its own thing. A far different look than the Miata.
The new Miata also looks good with the top up.
Club includes black wheels and aero bits. The new curves are most evident in Soul Red ($200).
Compared to my RX-8, the Miata has fuller fenders and a much shorter wheelbase.
The new body appears thickest when viewed directly from the side.
The top, though easy to operate, still appears stylish.
The car's curves look best from its rear quarter. Note how front fender falls away from its peak.
No quarter windows. Good for style, not so good for rearward visibility.
Attractively styled and trimmed new interior.
The NC Miata was also less stylish inside. No modern infotainment, either.
The MINI's controls are far less easy to use.
The upholstered lower face of the instrument panel is an upscale detail.
Most of the controls can be easily operated without looking away from the road.
Some people will wish the driver seat was more adjustable.
Small but usefully shaped trunk.
SKYACTIV engine is torquey and efficient, but doesn't stir the soul.
