Steering lock unit shorted out. After replacement, found ipdm was also bad. Replaced ipdm (intelligent power distribution module), then all was well. My car was under warranty, so I was not charged.

Ambient temperature readings were inaccurate. They replaced the sensor. Didn't solve the problem. Took it back. They replaced the info pod that reports fuel mileage readings, trip meter, maintenance alerts, etc. That solved the problem.
