2008 Nissan Altima Real Gas Mileage: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2009 4dr Sedan 270-horsepower 3.5L V6
6-speed shiftable CVT FWD
I had a 4 cyl Toyota Camry that got about 21 mpg. The 6cyl Altima with CVT gets 21.8. see full Nissan Altima review
2009 4dr Sedan 175-horsepower 2.5L I4
6-speed shiftable CVT FWD
I drive my cars hard and I get an average of 29mpg. This is a 70/30 mix of highway/city (my highway has a lot of stoplights so that is why 30 is so high). Even at high speeds fuel econ is great. see full Nissan Altima review
2009 4dr Sedan 175-horsepower 2.5L I4

Best fuel economy in a mid-size sedan. I get over 31 MPG on the highway. see full Nissan Altima review
2009 4dr Sedan 175-horsepower 2.5L I4
6-speed shiftable CVT FWD
Exceeds the sticker ratings of 23 city and 31 highway. I consitently get 27 city and 35 highway. see full Nissan Altima review
2008 4dr Sedan 175-horsepower 2.5L I4

2008 4dr Sedan 175-horsepower 2.5L I4
6-speed shiftable CVT FWD
Full size accomidations that yield better than 24 MPG around town. I have seen 35mpg on the highway at 65mph cruise. I obtain these numbers without having to really baby the accelerator (nice) see full Nissan Altima review
2008 4dr Sedan 175-horsepower 2.5L I4
6-speed shiftable CVT FWD
This is the reason I bought the 2.5 SL this time. I had the 3.5 SER last and it was a blast but expensive to drive as it used more fuel and tires. This car is cheap on gas and tires. see full Nissan Altima review
2008 2dr Coupe 270-horsepower 3.5L V6
6-speed manual FWD
3.5 L, 6sp. 22 mpg in town and high 20's hwy. Have seen 32 at 70mph on cruise control. Runs fine on regular. see full Nissan Altima review
2008 4dr Sedan 175-horsepower 2.5L I4
6-speed shiftable CVT FWD
i have owned a 2008, 2009, and a 2010 nissan altima. my 2008 and my 2010 altimas only get about 33 miles to an imperial gallon highway, yet my 2009 altima got 44 to 45 miles to the gallon which is the epa rating for cars sold in canada. all these cars have had the same engine 2.5 in them and i drive around 65mph or 120kph maximum. my city fuel consumption is about 31mpg to 32 mpg which is only one to two miles different then my city. the 2008 and the 2010 altimas are the first vehicles that i have owned that get virtually no better milage on the highway compared to the city other then the one hybid vehicle that i have owned. this is very perplexing see full Nissan Altima review

2007 4dr Sedan 175-horsepower 2.5L I4

Average 23mph on the HWY with a 4cyl and 175HP! Enough said... see full Nissan Altima review
2007 4dr Sedan 270-horsepower 3.5L V6
6-speed shiftable CVT FWD
Fuel economy is not bad, but with gas approaching 4 dollars a gallon, and Nissan recommending premium fuel, it still hurts a bit. Update: I just burned my first tank of regular and could tell no difference at all. (No premium or midgrade available.) see full Nissan Altima review
