YearBody/PowertrainComment
2007 4dr Hatch 150-horsepower 2.5L I5

most comfortable seats out of the Totoya Matrix, Mazda 3, Honda fit, Nissan Versa see full Volkswagen Jetta / Golf / GTI review
2007 4dr Hatch turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4

Excellent seats and comfort, however occasionally find the seats a bit narrow and the foot well can be tight in some shoes. see full Volkswagen Jetta / Golf / GTI review
2007 2dr Hatch turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4

The front seats offer great lateral support. see full Volkswagen Jetta / Golf / GTI review
2007 4dr Hatch turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed manual FWD
The sport seats in the basic black leatherette are nicely bolstered though not overly enveloping like seats in my FR-S. This means it hits a nice middle ground of comfort but still keeping you from being thrown around in aggressive driving. The manually adjusted seats are easily positioned to a comfortable state after you figure out which of the 4 levers is doing what. The adjustible thigh support is especially nice and not something I often see in this segment. see full Volkswagen Jetta / Golf / GTI review

Seats could be firmer though adequate. It has no lumbar support and expended use probably will change the shape of the foam used in the seat. see full Volkswagen Jetta / Golf / GTI review

What Our Members Are Saying about the Powertrain of the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta / Golf / GTI

2006 Volkswagen Jetta / Golf / GTI Powertrain: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2007 2dr Hatch turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed automated manual FWD
Even with a 200hp/207lb torque turbo engine there is nearly no lag and an absence of torque steer. The extremely flat torque curve allows for easy passing. Probably the best compromise of power, mpg, and comfort available. see full Volkswagen Jetta / Golf / GTI review
2007 4dr Hatch 150-horsepower 2.5L I5
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
Its okay, 150hp is sufficient, the 170 torque feels awesome see full Volkswagen Jetta / Golf / GTI review
2007 4dr Hatch turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4

-Very easily used powerband -Engine loves to rev -DSG transmission is wicked fast see full Volkswagen Jetta / Golf / GTI review
2007 2dr Hatch turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4

Seamless power with the DSG gearbox. Turbo is spooled instantly with no turbo lag at all. see full Volkswagen Jetta / Golf / GTI review
2007 4dr Hatch turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed manual FWD
Very peppy and smooth engine + transmission combo. It loves to rev but is also content cruising along. Great throttle response and turbo surge. see full Volkswagen Jetta / Golf / GTI review

2007 2dr Hatch turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed automated manual FWD
The 2.0-liter turbo is very easily tunable with a software flash and the DSG transmission is a great compromise between automatic and manual--I can shift either with the lever or the paddles behind the steering wheel. see full Volkswagen Jetta / Golf / GTI review
2007 2dr Hatch turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed automated manual FWD
The engine and DSG are both amazing! see full Volkswagen Jetta / Golf / GTI review
2007 2dr Hatch 150-horsepower 2.5L I5

2007 2dr Hatch turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4

2006 Volkswagen Jetta / Golf / GTI Powertrain: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2007 4dr Hatch turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed manual FWD
The engine is where I'm probably the most pleased and simultaneously disappointed. First, only having 190hp makes zero sense when this same engine will make 228hp in the X1. The low end feels extremely strong, but as the revs pass 4500, power tapers off significantly much like the MKV GTI does. It feels 100% artificially limited considering all the technology under the valve covers of the B46 engine, though. My wife rarely spins the engine to that upper rev range, so it is completely fine for her driving style. That said, the "fake" limitation really hurts the Clubman's value proposition against the other hot hatches on the market. The 6MT and clutch are easy to modulate and smooth, but both lack the engagement and feedback of my FR-S. The rev matching feature on downshifts work well. see full Volkswagen Jetta / Golf / GTI review
2007 2dr Hatch 150-horsepower 2.5L I5
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
Can be a little sluggish, transmission is great, but automanual not very useful. see full Volkswagen Jetta / Golf / GTI review
2006 4dr Hatch turbocharged 100hp 1.9L I4 Diesel
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
Sluggish in the winter. see full Volkswagen Jetta / Golf / GTI review
