Steering wheel shimmy. Re-balanced tires, but that did not solve the problem. Problem may be caused by bad bushings in front control arms.
replaced hose on steering pump to stop low-speed shudder
The shimmy was still there when I traded the A4, although the dealer had road forced balanced the wheels twice. We were at the point where he was going to request replacement control arms for the fix.
Steering wheel vibration at high speeds. Unresolved.
In-warranty tire replacement to alleviate vibration. Control arms ordered and will be installed in about a month.
Control arms replaced. Air conditioner exhibited strange smells. filter was wet, A/C cleaned and filter replaced by dealer.
Like many 2009 Audi A-4's, mine has a steering wheel vibration at 65-75 mph. Factory knows about this. (See Edmund's site). New lower control arms and bushings are on order.
Exactly as Edmunds described it. Vibration in steering wheel at 65-75 mph. If TTAC would spend less time worrying about General Motors, and more on nuts and bolts problems like this and ones many others are experiencing, it wouldn't be such a bad thing.
The lower control arms were replaced, the wheels were hard road balanced, and the car, so far at least, feels perfect. Problem appears to be resolved.
shimmy steering wheel at 60-70 mph. (two trips to dealership and the problem still exits)
new control arms were installed, but they do not eliminate the steering wheel vibration completely.
New hose is replaced to eliminate the steering wheel vibration during parking maneuver
Steering wheel vibrates at highway speed, starts at 65-75mph and disappears or smoothens at 80mph and above. Update: I've talked to Audi about this problem and they have told me that they are redesigning a new power steering hose, available Jan 2010.
Control arms were replaced per TSB of high speed steering wheel shimmy, also, Power steering hose replaced per TSB of low speed steering wheel shimmy.
Terrible wheel shudder between 55-65 MPH. Steering wheel literally shook in your hands. Tried to balance tires and did nothing. Consulting with Audi on issue.
