An asterisk (*) marks results based on small sample sizes.
General NotesModels and statistics marked with an asterisk (*) have very low sample sizes. These results, visible only to logged-in members, provide only a rough estimate of car reliability.Any result under 20 repair trips per 100 cars is likely a result of the small sample size, and should be expected to increase to 20 or so in future updates.
New models often start out with high repair rates, and then improve as the manufacturer identifies and addresses common problems. MethodologyOnly successfully completed repairs are currently included in the analysis. Routine maintenance, most wear items, recalls, and problems fixed with just a reflash or warning light reset are not included.

Rock solid, roomy, reliable. Chevy knows how to build a car. Affordable for a family on a budget, great gas mileage. This is teh 2nd Impala we have owned, and almost certainly there will be a third. |

| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 211-horsepower 3.5L V6 4-speed automatic FWD |
Had to replace wiper motor and body computer module in less than 2 years with no aid from dealer or Chevrolet. $1150 that could have been caused by using the windshield wipers in the winter time. De |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 233-horsepower 3.9L V6 4-speed automatic FWD |
The above mentioned transmission problem has started when the car reached about 30,000 miles and 1 year old. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 211-horsepower 3.5L V6 4-speed automatic FWD |
Electrical component failures caused by poor body assembly and sealing. GM will not warranty BCM or under hood fuse panel that failed by "environmental conditions" (snow & Ice & rain) Poor engineering. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 233-horsepower 3.9L V6 4-speed automatic FWD |
Thus far, have had problems with the gas cap (the P0455 fault), the speakers rattle, two of the four power door locks have failed, and the gas gauge has gone on the fritz. |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 233-horsepower 3.9L V6 4-speed automatic FWD |
I have had 4 service items performed within the first 3 years of ownership. Unremarkable reliability. |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 211-horsepower 3.5L V6 4-speed automatic FWD |
Car has been in more than twice a month for the last three years. Everything that can break has. |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 180-horsepower 3.4L V6 4-speed automatic FWD |
We had a lot of little repairs. In 120K miles, 3 water pumps, power steering pump, cracked front cover, alternator, instrument cluster (speedometer, etc..), roof liner started sagging, A/C required a lot of maintenance, int trim coming off and much more. |
| 2002 | 4dr Sedan 200-horsepower 3.8L V6 4-speed automatic FWD |
I had the front rotors warp every 3 to 6 months. I had to replace them at my cost as GM would not warranty them. The rear have now warped too. Both front wheel bearings had to be replaced as well as the tie rod ends. All within 70,000 miles. Very poor. |
