Dodge Ram 1500 Fuel Economy: Pros
Year Body/Powertrain Comment
2012 4dr Crew Cab 5.5ft bed 395-hp 5.7L V8 5-sp shiftable automatic RWD I use to own the v6 and I can honestly say that the Hemi get much better fuel mileage because its not trying to lug around the huge chassis and body. My V6 would avg about Mabye 13 MPG while my Hemi can get about 18 to 24 on good days sometimes even better.
2004 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 345-hp 5.7L V8 5-sp automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range Not great fuel economy.
2004 2dr Regular Cab 6.5ft bed 235-hp 4.7L V8 5-sp automatic RWD Averaging 18 around town in mix driving

2010 4dr Crew Cab 5.5ft bed 345-hp 5.7L V8 5-sp automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range The milleage was terrible , my friend made the same trip as I did with a similar equiped Ford 5.4 L , 4x4 and used 30 % less gas. I rented this truck for a 2 week hunting trip to test it befor buying a new one. I will buy another Ford or GMC.
2008 4dr Crew Cab 6.5ft bed 395-hp 5.7L V8 5-sp shiftable automatic RWD That hemi drinks fuel... we live at 55-60 while towing and 10mpg is all we hope for... we get that on the flats with no headwind. If you get a hill with a headwind you are looking at 4mpg! Buyer beware! fuel is approaching 5 bucks!
2005 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 395-hp 5.7L V8 5-sp shiftable automatic RWD 13 to 15 mpg in town about 17 mpg on the road.
2004 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 345-hp 5.7L V8 5-sp automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range Poor fuel economy
2003 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 395-hp 5.7L V8 5-sp shiftable automatic RWD Not much I don't like about this truck, but MPG with a Hemi combined with heavy loads means 12-13 mpg consistently. Not sure newer trucks would do any better with my 1000 lb load in the back. Highway mileage is only 16-17 at best.
2003 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 230-hp 5.2L V8 4-sp automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range I should have bought the Hemi 5.7L engine. The 4.7 is awful...gutless and I get about 13 mpg in a rural setting and can get about 15 in the highway. I drive very conservatively.
2002 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 230-hp 5.2L V8 4-sp automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range I average 12 mpg with just me in the cab.
