78300   It was the cam position sensor. The car bucked between 3000 & 4000 rpm. According the web, this is a common Taurus problem.

105400 mi C $3000 replaced two of the three catalytic converters. Contacted dealership and Ford head office directly and neither could explain the reason for this type of repair. Third cat was replace 4 months later
