Replaced iridium spark plugs (6) at 73k kilometres due to a miss in cylinder 1. These are usually replaced at 100k kilometres.
49000 mi Oil pressure switch. The sensor was not able to read the oil pressure. Which on a v6 accord auto also affected the shift points and the car would not go into vcm (Hondas cylinder management system).
86000 mi Spark plugs fouled from oil consumption. Replaced per Honda
93 mi Vehicle had software update performed, which lead to excessive oil consumption. Dealer performed oil consumption test and agreed it's consuming more than it should. Awaiting input from Honda Rep.

US $500
Took car in due to flashing check engine light. Had researched that the 08-12 Accord V6 eco motor had a class action lawsuit about bad piston ring seal design that would allow the spark plugs to foul. Was going to be a simple extended warranty repair (piston ring and spark plug replacement) by Honda, but the walls of the cylinders had already been scored which led to the short block being replaced.
77000 mi Check engine light came on. became very rough on idle. Part of the ring problem with the V6 and settlement. Even though covered for 2 more years, I am buying another car (also a Honda).Replaced plugs and programmed computer.

190-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD

83560 mi Low oil, vtc noise at start up. Some accords seem to burn oil. If you let it get low, which mine might have, the VTC piece (to alert the owner to prevent damage) will make a noise at startup. Oil level now fine, noise continues, dealer says to ignore it.

Car is on an oil consumption test due to burning oil. So far seems to be ok. Dipstick oil line was quite high (above top marker), but let's assume the "normal" volume. A shame that maint minder isnt more conservative.

P0420 code - bank1 of engine, emissions below threshold. Common problem with cars at higher KM/miles I believe. Could be the downstream sensor, or the catalytic converter, or some combination. Seems fuel and oil level related too. With the piston ring problem that the 8th gen Accord has (many documented cases), they burn oil. I believe this makes them more susceptible to fouling/impacting catalytic converter. I am monitoring as light goes on for afew days, then off for several weeks in some cases - will replace the oil and rear sensor soon. Also added some 50/50 coolant to radiator. Did not do a flush.
184760 mi

C $800
P0420 code which can be a bunch of things - catalytic converter (only 1 in 2010 Accord 4cyl), oxygen/emissions sensors before the catalytic converter and after. Intermittent problem for around 6 months until I decided to replace the o2 sensors first. About 250-300 in parts. Also did the transmission fluid drain and fill at this time and new spark plugs a month earlier. Code went out and stayed out after the o2 sensor replace, so that was obviously the issue.
200000 mi

US $2000

36000 mi Radiator cap blew off while on highway.

72200 mi VTEC actuator worn; replaced under extended powertrain warranty
33000 mi Fuel pump failed. Took it to the dealer where I had bought the car, and where I get it serviced. Honda covered the full cost, including parts and labor, as well as cost of rental vehicle.
75000 mi Had the classic valve modulator problem. After a $500 quote, seeing I am in NY the PZEV 15yr/150K warranty applied, after I told them I knew about that warranty. Applies in any state CA emissions are required when purchased new. READ IT!
57000 mi Very loud whine noise heard from the engine bay. It is always happen during cold or hot start.
70500 mi Car burns 2q of oil every 1,000 miles. It only holds 4q. It's all over the net. The problem is common. And sad for Honda who does not care
82000 mi

US $250
Still burning 2q oil 500 miles. This car is junk
92000 mi Still burning oil
90000 mi Same oil problem. This car sucks

271-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD

82000 mi P0303 Cylinder 3 misfire - second time the car has thrown this code/error in 80K miles. Problem fixed under class-action settlement at no cost. Plugs replaced, piston rings damaged as a result of issue and replaced. Upon return from piston ring/misfire repairs there was a strong shudder when AC compressor was on. Took it to dealer to ensure they were aware problem was new since pickup. They claimed it only needed a tightened motor mount and sent me off. Earlier cause of rattle post misfire repair returned as a mis-installed tensioner pulley and when the dealer was driving it off to the service lot the pulley completely failed and it threw all belts off. 3rd trip originating from misfire.

Oil pressure light became intermittent about a week ago, checked oil level and discovered the engine had lost all 5 quarts in three weeks since last checkup. Called Honda dealer to discuss, they confirmed two known issues with oil pressure.
59000 mi Dealer stated valve cover gasket had failed. Replaced with oil and filter and started oil consumption test.
69000 mi Oil consumption test began with dealer to determine issues present. Dealer showed me the level of oil which I believed was over the fill line. I checked at cold level again later and it was over the fill line. Dealer states to check again.
74900 mi Engine burning oil. Oil level does not touch dipstick, 50% oil life left. Started oil consumption test.
77100 mi Engine burning excessive oil. Did oil consumption test over 2 months to confirm burning oil. Honda replaced pistons and numerous parts to engine under warranty. Have not confirmed if the problem has been solved.
