Mar 20181100 mi | A rattle noise is sometimes heard coming from the heads-up display on top of the dash while driving. The service department was able to duplicate the sound. They disassembled the dash and added additional foam. The noise is still present however, so I'll be bringing the car in again next week. There's also a slight hood misalignment which I'll bring to their attention as well. Brought car to dealer and they added more foam. The problem appears to have been fixed, but will need to wait until colder weather to see if the issue resurfaces. |
Honda Accord in Virginia, United States Jan 2018 - Dec 2018
Feb 2018300 mi | The hood is not aligned well. It seems to only affect early production cars because all of the new ones I see looks good. I should have inspected the exterior better and rejected this one. It doesn't affect the functionality of the car. The silver paint makes the difference in gap between the left and right side more obvious than a darker color would have. The dealer will not fix it because it is within the tolerances allowed by Honda. |
Honda Accord in Pennsylvania, United States Feb 2018 - Sep 2018
Apr 2018150 mi | dealer kept the car for over a week, putting on over 200 miles to get the rattles and squeaks out.
May 20182500 mi | nothing done; told it was normal operation of car. never ever had a car that did this including mercedes, porxhed, bmw, subaru, olds, ford, chevy. workmanship and design of parking brake is substandard and deficient. also transmission stumbling and difficulty with gear choice at low rpm, jerking when changing gears at hiway speed. also poor design, told it was normal operation. probably my last honda. love the ridgeline though. additional comment: poor ride over road ripples and pavement joints. |

Honda Accord in Wisconsin, United States Nov 2017 - Jun 2020
Jan 2018200 mi | Due to extremely cold weather, I found that when I hit the brake pedal and then the gas pedal, a clunking sound was heard from beneath the dash. When the car was test driven, the tech was unable to hear the noise. Subsequently, I went for a ride with him and the noise was nearly inaudible. Talking to the tech afterwards, he concluded that it was cold related and since the car was in the heated service department for about 1/2 hour before driving it, it has warmed up to the extent that the problem "disappeared". I'll take it in again when it's cold and make sure that the car remains outside so it won't warm up too much. Update - the tech did some additional sound insulation work (tape and/or foam) and since then (about April 2019) I haven't experienced the noise regardless of temperature. So I consider the problem fixed.
Aug 20185900 mi | I did a fair amount of bitching about the fact that service could not find (or even hear) the sound. I kept bringing the car in to have this problem looked at again. The one tech had said during a test drive that he did hear the sound and they finally put him on the job. I left the car for a day and he put insulating foam everywhere under the dash that he thought could be causing the noise. My perseverance finally paid off, as the effort by this particular tech finally got rid of the noise. I don't know exactly where he used the foam and I didn't really care since I was just glad that the problem was solved. Since then, I've been able to enjoy the benefits of Honda's major effort at improving sound insulation of the 2018 Accord... the car is amazingly quiet, far quieter than any Accord that I had previously owned. |
