Requested dealer to check on the transmission due to vibration on 3rd gear. Reported no problems found, no vibration happening during their tests, and a spark plug malfunction.
45880 mi based on dealer recommendation after inspection, changed all spark plugs prematurely in order to resolve strange vibration. No solution to vibration after spark plug change. Vibration getting much worse, but a local mechanic could not find the problem, but verifies it is the transmission. Took minivan back to dealer to review again the vibration in transmission. They stated that nothing could be done as per Honda´s dealer procedures in Mexico, other than changing the transmission.
42480 mi Got the minivan to a specialized transmission repair shop. Inspected and scanned. Resulted in no major transmission failure. Required complete flush of trans oil. Said that dealer had not changed oil as per maint program as paid. Back to the repair shop as transmission started shifting to 4rd and 5th gears very soon at low speeds. Shop reprogrammed computer. Back to the transmission shop given that last reprogramming caused the vibration in 3rd gear to be back again very strongly. Reprogrammed again and vibration reduced (still there, but much slightly). Shifts much better now.
47120 mi Called Honda Mexico to put a complain given the vibration in 3rd. shift. Was directed to the dealer in my town (Honda Corregidora). Took it there and had it tested by myself together with their chief mechanic. Could not replicate the problem Interestingly, the problem has became slighter every time that I kept driving it. Then I did a 4 hours each way trip, and it has completely disappeared! It looks like the new transmission fluid needed time to wash the affected parts.
