Coming from a Trailblazer, we like the average of 21-22 MPG in mixed driving, as were used to about 17 MPG. Fuel economy climbs toward the rated 26 MPG the more highway driving we do.
My wife has always liked the slightly boxier, more truck like look than the curvy appearance of many competing small SUVs. And, the Mariner has a slightly classier look than the more rugged Escape.
It the right size for suburban living. We can still make runs to the home improvement stores and haul stuff, or tow a small trailer if needed. A full size SUV was overkill for 95% of our usage needs.
