120000 mi US $1000 Engine light code said catalytic converter. Repair shop said I needed the central converter. Cost $1000. Repaired. Two days later light came back on. New code has several versions (1 said O2 sensor, other front catalytic conver, other reset light) 
120000 US $700 Problem with rough starting-traced to ECU (partially burned out by defective electronic engine mounts). Dealer wanted nearly $3000 for repair. Local shop replaced ecu with remanufactured one. Engine mounts left unconnected. Problem partially resolved.

89000 mi US $65 Loose shield and hole in exhaust between precats 2 & and 3. Loose hangar was replaced on resonator after MAIN cat 
104000   fuel gauge dropped to completely empty where it remained until I traded it in for an '07 outback 
97000 US $700 Engine missed badly on two occasions, check engine light came on both times. #6 cylinder coil bad, replaced and problem fixed. 
98000 US $60 O2 sensor was bad. There are 3 O2 sensors. This one is before the catalytic converter. 
128000   Check engine light (SES light) was on. Code indicated it was the PNP switch on my manual transmission (Park-Neutral Position switch). Had to drain tranny and replace the switch. Repair was simple, but new part was hard to find. Ordered it online.
