Nissan Sentra Fuel Economy: Pros
Year Body/Powertrain Comment
2009 4dr Sedan 177-hp 2.5L I4 6-sp shiftable CVT FWD Great on gas, runs on normal unleaded and still has power.
2008 4dr Sedan 140-hp 2.0L I4 CVT FWD Averaging 33+
2008 4dr Sedan 140-hp 2.0L I4 CVT FWD Supposed to get over 30 MPG
2008 4dr Sedan 140-hp 2.0L I4 CVT FWD Have gotten 38 mpg on trips, however usually average 32 mpg
2008 4dr Sedan 140-hp 2.0L I4 CVT FWD Over 6k miles and average of 32.5mpg hwy/city, 70% hwy. All mountainous terrain.
2007 4dr Sedan 140-hp 2.0L I4 CVT FWD 30+ miles
2006 4dr Sedan 140-hp 2.0L I4 CVT FWD Its really high. I can get up to 40 on the highway.
2006 4dr Sedan 200-hp 2.5L I4 6-sp manual FWD Even with a 2.5l driven like a lunatic I get 25mpg.
2004 4dr Sedan 200-hp 2.5L I4 6-sp manual FWD 6 speed manual helps with fuel economy
2002 4dr Sedan 200-hp 2.5L I4 6-sp manual FWD With MPG levels of 26 city/ 28 highway (even though you can go as far as 32 mpg highway and obtain an average of 26 mpg on mixed driving with the occasional engine redlining), the fuel economy of this car is pretty adequate. On stock form it will not drain your wallet, even when Nissan has the ECU tuned in the SE-R and SE-R Spec V to run a bit richer than in the Altima. It's no Prius but it's not as bad as, let's say, a modified Mazda rotary engine. Modifications like cold air intake and header will decrease some MPG but the change isn't too drastic either.
Nissan Sentra Fuel Economy: Cons
Year Body/Powertrain Comment
2008 4dr Sedan 140-hp 2.0L I4 CVT FWD For the price of the car, it offers average-at-best fuel economy.
2008 4dr Sedan 140-hp 2.0L I4 CVT FWD the fuel consumption that the computer shows is always 11.4 liters per 100 kms not even close to manufacturer number.
2008 4dr Sedan 140-hp 2.0L I4 CVT FWD This car obtains awful fuel economy in the city. Mine averages about 20 on a good day in stop and go traffic. On the highway, it has gotten as high as 37, but typically hovers around 30-33. Be prepared to visit the pump often, it takes about 12-13 gallons
2007 4dr Sedan 140-hp 2.0L I4 CVT FWD Fuel Economy MUCH lower than EPA. Less than others of the same class.
2002 4dr Sedan 200-hp 2.5L I4 6-sp manual FWD Poor mileage for a smaller car, closer to sports car turbo type gas mileage.
2002 4dr Sedan 165-horsepower 2.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
Not practical for everyday
