2008 Saturn (Opel) Astra XR Four Door Hatch. 2008 Saturn ASTRA Pros and Cons Member5706 The little engine in this car performs well, when paired with the 5 speed manual. You can really feel how small the engine is in the first two gears, however third and fourth really take off and get you moving. I was first worried at how high the RPMs are... |

Saturn Astra 2008 Saturn ASTRA Pros and Cons ed111db Peppy, Had a lot of fun driving around town as the power band with the 5 speed is pretty much set up for fighting moving traffic (3rd and 4th) and not half bad for such a small engine on the freeway between 55 and 85 |

2008 Saturn ASTRA Pros and Cons Member4019 Only one engine, the 5 speed needs a 6th gear as the engine revs at 3100 rpm @ 60mph (too high) in 5th. I bought the automatic since at 60mph the engine revs are 2500 rpm. Also, 138hp / 125 lb-ft of torque is on the low side... |

2009 Saturn ASTRA Pros and Cons A member in Quebec, Canada Lacks a little bit of power, but considering it is an ECOTec engine, not so bad. Best acceleration is found in the 2800-3500 RPMs. Lower RPM power is negligible. |

2008 Saturn ASTRA Pros and Cons Member3649 Underpowered - thanks CA emmissions standards! |
|
2008 Saturn ASTRA Pros and Cons A member in Illinois, United States The only motor is the 1.8L GM minny mouse 4 cyl. and it just doesnt have alot of passing power even with a down shift or two. Also the 5 speed really needs to be a six. 65mph is over 3k RPM and is sucking gas that could be better... |

2008 Saturn ASTRA Pros and Cons A member in Alabama, United States 5 speed is pretty slick... Engine power good |

2008 Saturn ASTRA Pros and Cons Member3065 The powertrain is refined, but it could use a little extra horsepower and a sixth gear - engine speed is high at cruising speeds |
|
2008 Saturn ASTRA Pros and Cons Member3011 The engine runs MUCH better after about 5K miles as they start off very tight. The car has another 25 hp over the comparable econo boxes that it is priced with. Modify the air box for free. It makes a huge improvement in performance. |

2008 Saturn ASTRA Pros and Cons Member2890 Seems sluggish when starting from lights. |

2008 Saturn ASTRA Pros and Cons A member in Massachusetts, United States Came from a 300hp v8 so the power just feels a lil lacking. Could benefit from about 20 or so HP and 15-20ft/lbs of torque but still is not bad. |

2008 Saturn ASTRA Pros and Cons Member1857 The 5-speed manual leaves a little to be desired in the 0-60 acceleration. It seems to want a 6th speed at top end freeway speeds. |
