What Our Members Are Saying about the Seat Room and Comfort of the 2008 Subaru Outback

2008 Subaru Outback Seat Room and Comfort: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2008 4dr Wagon 170-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed shiftable automatic AWD
A little tight in the left portion of the footwell; small dead pedal. see full Subaru Outback review
2008 4dr Wagon 170-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Footroom too short. see full Subaru Outback review
2008 4dr Wagon 170-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed shiftable automatic AWD
not long enough for a 6 foot 2 inch frame but I manage see full Subaru Outback review
2007 4dr Wagon 175-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed shiftable automatic AWD
I was amazed at how small the back seat is in this car. Really no bigger than a compact sedan, eg Civic or Corolla. I can't fit my 3 kids (in car seats) back there, and feel bad when co-workers pile in to go to lunch. Surprisingly small for a vehicle this size, and marketed as a "family car." If you plan to put adults or 3 kids back there regularly, look at the '10 or newer (or at something else -- the rear seat in my co-worker's Accord is far bigger and more comfortable). see full Subaru Outback review
2007 4dr Sedan 245-horsepower 3.0L H6
5-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Leg and head room lacking for over 6 footers. see full Subaru Outback review
2007 4dr Sedan 245-horsepower 3.0L H6
5-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Seat back a bit low for 6 footers. see full Subaru Outback review

What Our Members Are Saying about the Powertrain of the 2008 Subaru Outback

2008 Subaru Outback Powertrain: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2009 4dr Wagon 170-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Standard AWD see full Subaru Outback review
2009 4dr Wagon 170-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed shiftable automatic AWD
We needed all-wheel drive & it has a proven track record in this area. So far, it has met our expectations (with the exception of low clearance) in this regard. see full Subaru Outback review
2008 4dr Wagon 170-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed shiftable automatic AWD
I live on a mountain and need four wheel drive. Never a problem with traction. see full Subaru Outback review
2008 4dr Wagon 170-horsepower 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
I need a vehicle that can take me up snowy mountain roads to my favorite ski areas on a daily basis. My Subaru not only takes me up the mountain safely, but also downhill with AWD and a 5 spd MT. I find it has power to spare with the 4 cyl engine. see full Subaru Outback review
2007 4dr Wagon turbocharged 243hp 2.5L H4
5-speed shiftable automatic AWD
The O7 XT is equiped with a turbo charger, the engine response is smooth. The engine has more than enough power for the size of the car. Compared to an Audi A4 or an Audi Allroad the power is greater than or equal to those cars. see full Subaru Outback review
2007 4dr Wagon 175-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed shiftable automatic AWD
All wheel drive and ground clearance are nice to have for bad weather or trying to get to a remote location. You wouldn't confuse it for a sports car, but it gets up and down the canyon very nicely, too. see full Subaru Outback review
2008 Subaru Outback Powertrain: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2009 4dr Wagon 170-horsepower 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
Non-turbo is quite slow even in unloaded vehicle. For the price, there were better options. Auto trans model was only 4 speed, not particularly well-matched to engine power and weight of vehicle. see full Subaru Outback review
2008 4dr Wagon 170-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Somewhat clunky automatic transmission. Engine is a bit wheezy when passing. see full Subaru Outback review
2008 4dr Wagon 170-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed shiftable automatic AWD
could use a few more horses see full Subaru Outback review
