These results, visible only to logged-in members, provide only a rough estimate of car reliability.
Any result under 20 repair trips per 100 cars is likely a result of the small sample size, and should be expected to increase to 20 or so in future updates.
New models often start out with high repair rates, and then improve as the manufacturer identifies and addresses common problems. This car can easily go for 300.000 km, without problems, if the maintenance is done properly. |
| 2007 | 4dr Wagon turbocharged 161hp 2.4L I5 Diesel 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Long lasting engines. |
| 2006 | 4dr Wagon turbocharged 208hp 2.5L I5 5-speed shiftable automatic AWD |
Not a single issue with this vehicle!!! I actually wrote this review as my perfect history with this car is not showing up in the True Delta ratings. |
| 2005 | 4dr Wagon 168-horsepower 2.4L I5 5-speed automatic FWD |
More the durability than reliability. I fully expect the car to go at least 200K, or more. On the reliability end, I have not had any problems whatsoever at 40K, though have heard some repair horror stories about earlier models of this vehicle |
| 2004 | 4dr Wagon turbocharged 208hp 2.5L I5 5-speed shiftable automatic AWD |
My wife and I are just about to roll 100k miles on our 2004 XC70 and it has been very reliable. Nothing but scheduled maintenance to report, and even the cost of said maintenance has been very reasonable—on par with Hondas that we've owned. The key to Volvo ownership is finding a reputable and reliable independent repair shop. In my area I have a guy who loves, lives and breathes Volvo. If I only had the dealer, I'd own another make. |
| 2004 | 4dr Wagon turbocharged 208hp 2.5L I5 5-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
60,000 trouble free miles for 4 plus years. |
| 2002 | 4dr Wagon turbocharged 197hp 2.4L I5 5-speed automatic FWD |
(Besides the turbo), Volvos are reliable cars if you maint them. |

| 2005 | 4dr Wagon turbocharged 208hp 2.5L I5 5-speed shiftable automatic AWD |
Warranty repairs have been more than expected. Worse than a BMW, much better than a Mercedes. Question on long term durability of transmission which is bad for a car with reputation for 250K + miles. |
| 2003 | 4dr Wagon 168-horsepower 2.4L I5 5-speed automatic FWD |
high cost of parts and repairs |
| 2002 | 4dr Wagon turbocharged 197hp 2.4L I5 5-speed shiftable automatic AWD |
It has a reputation of faulty transmissions. We have not owned it long enough to have any problems yet. |
