Nissan's VQ engines just seem to be thirsty - if you commute in heavy traffic, especially for short trips, don't be surprised at 15.5-16 mpg tanks. I don't know what mostly-highway commuting would look like, but maybe 22-25 mpg depending on driving style. see full Infiniti G review

Especially if you are a "spirited" driver like I tend to be. I am averaging about 14-16mpg 95% city. On the highway its a different story. 6-speed shiftable automatic AWD		 Our Tiguan ranges from 20-30 mpg, between city and highway cruising. It's consistently about 5 mpg thirstier than the GTI. Blame the extra weight, but there's less than 400 lbs of that, IIRC. Or blame the AWD, but it's part-time only. I blame the large aero cross-section; it stands about a foot taller than a Golf. If VW would offer a TDI in the Tiguan, they'd sell as many as they could spare to the US market. I'd be standing in line. see full Volkswagen Tiguan review
