| May 201368506 mi | P0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire Set. On a very hot summer day in May 2013, while climbing a very long, steep grade on Interstate 5 between Oregon and California, my check engine light started flashing. I pulled over, allowed the car to cool off, and pulled the Misfire code shown. Since the code cleared on its own, I did not make any further repairs - other than pulling the code - at that time. | ||
| Jul 201473692 mi | P0342 CMP Set. Some problem with the camshaft position sensor or wiring caused the check engine light to set. There was a recall for defective camshaft position sensors in the Lanos, but my vehicle fell outside the recall range. At the time, I assumed nothing was wrong with the sensor, and instead implicated the coil pack. Recharged system with 20-oz of R-134a. First time in 14 years that it needed a recharge! P0113 IAT Sensor 1 Circuit High Input P1627 PCM/ECM A/D Conversion Error Pulled codes. No repairs made. Pending further research. Codes have *not* recurred. | ||

| Jul 201777333 miUS $25 | Replaced coil pack, all 4 spark plugs, and plug wires, for aforementioned check engine light problems. It turned out, however, that the coil pack was NOT the problem, as check engine light (P0300 Multiple Cylinder Misfire/P0342 Cam Position No Signal) continues to occur under heavy load (generally when climbing a long steep grade at freeway speeds). I'll check the wiring for the cam position sensor and possibly replace the CMP sensor when time permits. Also, recharged air conditioning with 6-oz R134a on this date. | ||
