Engine not specified

126000 mi

US $12
New thermostat/gasket and new bolts where thermostat goes (old ones were no longer holding, losing tons of fluid and loss of heat).
126000 mi There was a band-aid fix for a heating issue it had the previous winter, the only solution was to clamp off the bypass hose, otherwise the car did not have any heat. Did not want to do anything drastic like sink money into a heater core.

Intake was laid on top of a wiring harness when the Taurus was built in June 2001. Eight years later, grinding and crushing of the intake exposed the wires to bare metal, causing many serious problems with the powertrain. Took mechanic 8+ hours to find. Blown head gasket(s) discovered in early November of 2009. A very slow leak, but significant enough to allow exhaust to back into the cooling system and clog the heater core, as well as reduce power and gas mileage.

Clogged heater core, no heat in the car. Performed 'Clinton Flush' as described at Taurus Club dot come. Sucked the rust from the bottom of expansion tank with wet vac., refilled with new coolant. Heat works!
82960 mi

C $100
A month after 'Clinton Flush' heat stopped working. Replaced heater core and thermostat. Works great. Don't be fooled by shop 5hr labor, search uTube and Taurus Club for the DIY, it's easy, just don't break plastic tabs on blende
95480 mi Engine problem. Changed a spark plug and ignition coil (needed) and fuel injector (unneeded).  Took 3 mechanics to tell me that I've low compression in cyl. 2. Was told need to take off head to see what's needed. Est. $900-1,200. Not worth it, driving as is.
