The upstream end of the resonator rusted away from the U-bolt clamp that attaches it to the downstream end of the catalytic converter. Stepped hard on the gas to pass a car and the two sections of the exhaust became disconnected. A very loud exhaust noise ensued until it was fixed. An exhaust reducer fitting and two U-bolt clamps were used to reconnect the exhaust sections back together. The two bars that the rubber exhaust hangers attach to had to be bent slightly because the reducer fitting caused the resonator to be positioned a few inches towards the rear of the vehicle. |
