2008 Mercury Mountaineer 4dr SUV

210-horsepower 4.0L V6 5-speed automatic AWD

85000 mi Car through a fault code while my wife was driving it back on a three hour trip. Because she said it was running normally I advised her to continue which she did without incident. Using my Dash Command ODBC tool I read the code as a faulty fuel pressure sensor. I cleared the code and the code has nor reappeared and the car has continued to operate properly. I am chalking it up to an intermittent loss of voltage at one of the power pins in the connector, likely due to sudden change to cold temperatures causing a temporary problem.
85600 mi

US $738
High fuel pressure sensor failed. Required removal of throttle body and intake manifold and new gaskets all around. $390 in parts and $348 in labor and taxes.
38700 mi

After a radiator flush at the dealership, my radiator started leaking. Took the car back to dealer and they pressured tested the radiator to confirm a leak in the seam. My extended warranty covered the repair except for the $100 deductible.
42800 mi

Check engine light came on during a 90 mile trip. Took it to dealer and they discovered that the thermostat was stuck open. Replaced thermostat.

Check engine light Code P0442. Found a loose connection on the sensor and the filler. There is a recall on this code but the problem was the loose electrical connection and repair was made under extended service plan. I paid a $100 deduct.
