Decided to bring the ground connection elsewhere near the wheel using a 4 gauge cable from an auto shop near my house. Cable cost 18 CAD$, dielectric grease cost 8$. Drilled the aluminum plate and tightened hard the cable with a bolt and nut I had. Problem gone.
