51800 mi Heard a faint noise took it in, they said the problem was in the rear differential but replaced the whole transmission under full warranty including 2 weeks in a loaded Outback
Drove the car off the lot late at night immediately noticed a vibration. Three trips to the dealer and they still don't know what it is but it did fail a line pressure check on the cvt transmission. might pursue lemon law and return
nothing done--car returned to dealer

2015 Subaru Crosstrek 4dr Hatch

148-horsepower 2.0L H4 5-speed manual AWD

95000 mi

US $2700
5 Spd Manual. Repaired 3rd and 4th gear. Needed synchros and other parts. Did the clutch while we were in there.
172000 mi

US $185
Complete clutch job. The clutch disc looked great and could have easily gone another 200k. It was the throw out bearing that was beginning to give that telltale raspy whisper. The bearing looked like it had 170k on it.
285000 mi

US $85
Started to get the telltale click, click, click of a worn cv joint on the front right cv axle. Pulled and replaced complete axle.
310000 mi

US $175
Replaced driveshaft when I noticed a subtle vibration while coasting in top gear. Noisy clutch release bearing. All other parts looked good but did a complete clutch job since tranny was out anyway.
505000 mi

US $185
Noticed a slight rumbling noise and vibration when decelerating between 65mph and 75mph. Replaced longitudinal driveshaft.
1057000 mi I replaced the Crosstrek engine at around 675,000 miles because of a burnt valve and increasing oil usage. Earlier this year, after 3 transmissions, I decided to swap the 5 speed manual with a 6 speed manual from a 2018 Crosstrek. The only issue I had with the original 5 speed is that I spend 85% of my time in 5th and it just kept wearing out 5th gear [ed: after about 300,000 miles] because of a design issue. The 6 speed is a much better fit for that car.
97000 mi

US $100
Noticed a hum/whistle only in 5th gear, particularly between 45-50 mph. Dealer replaced 5th gear assembly under extended warranty. Gears were slightly worn creating the hum.
171000 mi

US $3000
Left front axle began making loud metallic ticking noise - had been ticking softly occasionally for a month. Replaced left front axle assembly.
120000 mi

US $500
Right front axle was making a tapping noise only when accelerating , and turning to the right ... Upon inspection was revealed the axle joints were damaged. Since I travel 150 miles a day and this has been going on since the last scheduled oil change ( ~6 weeks ~6K ) took the hit to have the component replaced ( not very happy & am beginning to question Subaru's reliability, since this is the 2nd repair this year..( so far) , hoping this is it for the balance of the year..
199000 mi

US $280
Right front axle was making a tapping noise only when accelerating, and turning to the right ... Upon inspection was revealed the axle joints were damaged.
