57660 mi Gear selection became difficult, as if gate was obstructed (manual). Intermittent problem, but especially bad when engine cold. Dealer made adjustments. problem improved slightly.

38000 mi Shift assembly was sending error codes to the computer. It didn't appear that anything mechanical was wrong.

21700 mi On January 27, 2017, when car went to dealer for Suction Pump Recall, dashboard error message had previously indicated Gearbox Error (no repair done, unable to reproduce). At Motor Vehicle Inspection, found faulty Shift Module Assembly (ordered and replaced). 
19000 mi Had an intermittent "transmission error" light, so shifter column replaced. 
19000 mi On a trip back from Kentucky to MD, an alert signal was raised and the text "transmission issue" but the manual has no information for that. I called the dealer from the mountains of west virginia and they said that it wasn't a worry....but to take it in....when I took it in they found that the shifter needed replacing. 
29000 mi Shifter replaced due to reoccurring error on MFI

5000 mi transmission software reflash to help jerky low speed starts 
3000 mi Shaking/wobble felt on acceleration from stop. Does this only on 1.8 TSI with automatic. Was called by dealer for a TCM upgrade fix. Upgrade did not stop the wobble problem. 
3900 mi Same shaking/wobble problem. Dealer replaced right front axel. Did not solve the problem. Seems there is a bad batch of axels made in China. Those made in Mexico don't seem to cause the problem. 
4600 mi After unsuccessful attempt to repair shaking/wobble in front end, dealer replaced both axles with ones made in Mexico and not China (like the OEM ones). This seems to have stopped the problem and the acceleration is now smooth. 
20000 mi Gearbox failed and replaced under warranty. 
10000 mi Software update to improve shifting. 
18000 mi Transmission error diagnosed, new shifter ordered 
23700 mi Car experienced shimmy on acceleration. These early 2015 production run front axles found to be faulty. Front axles replaced. 
29000 mi Car was towed to local dealership after a "critical error" message came up while leaving for work. A module in the shift level was found to have failed and was replaced under warranty.
