The rear water bypass had a fine hair-like crack that leaked coolant. It was a slow leak and was only evident upon checking the underside of the engine. The rear water bypass was replaced (This rear water bypass repair is not covered by the power train warranty) with a new one, however, after a month of driving, the engine has overheated and when I checked the coolant in the reservoir, it was empty. The next day, I returned it to the dealership and the mechanic told me that due to the engine overheating, it might now have blown the cylinder head gasket. The mechanic showed me the coolant residue where he suspects is coming from. Due to the on going coolant leak issue, I just sold the tacoma to the dealership before the powertrain warranty expires and ordered a new one. :=) |
