| 9500 mi | Cooling fan control unit failed (warranty item) many failed globally and I had to wait for the part to come from Audi, Germany. The entire wait was just under three weeks, but did include both Christmas, the week following and New Years, so some of the issue was the time of year (holidays, etc.) During the time the car was at the dealer, I was loaned a new A8L. |
| 6000 mi | A warning "engine system malfunction" came on and revs were limited to 3500 although the car otherwise ran normally. Turning off and restarting the car had no effect. I parked the car overnight and in the morning, the malfunction warning was gone. I took it to the dealer where they detected an OBD code for "blocked fan" that had resolved spontaneously. No repair was required and there was no charge as the car is under warranty. The original trigger for this code remains unexplained. |
