turbocharged 270hp 2.0L I4 Hybrid 8-speed shiftable automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range
25000 mi | Replaced steering box per tsb |
38000 mi US $1170 |
Lots of play in steering wheel. "Death Wobble" at 70 miles an hour. Needed to have aluminum factory steering gearbox replaced with new steel steering gearbox. Jeep paid 80 percent. Update: This did not fix the issue. New tires and a balance did fix it. |
285-horsepower 3.6L V6 8-speed shiftable automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range
17000 mi | I had a TSB performed to replace the steering gear which caused loose steering just before the warranty expired |
17000 mi | Know issue with the JL model Wrangler. I have had it in twice for it, two different dealers, neither offered to follow up with the problem. Recently, I discovered a service bulletin which requires replacing the flexible aluminum steering box with a forged one. Unfortunately, Stellantis, the parent company in Italy, does not readily promote repairs of known issues. |
17000 mi | The steering box was replaced under warranty, but no thanks to Jeep, they won’t tell you about this situation unless you find the service bulletin on your own and complain. The Jeep now handles /steers like it should. |
4153 mi | Steering dampener replaced. |
7104 mi | Steering gear replaced. |
285-horsepower 3.6L V6 8-speed shiftable automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range
900 mi | Vehicle sways all over the road. Hard to control at high speeds. Dealership could not identify the problem, but said there was a "slight one problem with steering". Finally had a local mechanic diagnose the problem. The steering stabilizer was bad from the factory. All the fluid leaked out, making it difficult to control sway. |
7000 mi US $150 |
Sway bar Steerng stabilizer lost all its fluid causing vehicle to handle poorly, swaying side to side while driving. This was supposed to be covered under warranty, but Jeep Could not get a replacement part for up to 3 months. I had to purchase an aftermarket part And pay for it out of my own pocket |
