Introduction

It was just an unexpected test drive- RDX was not really on my list, but I thoroughly enjoyed the drive and couldn't see myself driving anything else. Glad I made this choice.

Why the 2013 Acura RDX?

Powertrain performance

Coming from a v8, I thought I'd sacrifice power availability. This 6 is responsive, can kick it when needed and deliver reasonable mileage.

Interior styling

Really pleasing interior. Up to date but not flashy and over complicated. Materials feel great and the colors & finishes play off each other nicely. Easy hatch release, rear seat fold down release from the hatch or seats. Keyless entry/start&stop fun to use.

Driving position & visibility

Great visibility all around with nice open feel. 3 position rear camera is amazing. Comfortable driving position simple to find.

Controls and instruments

Everything is well laid out inside and right where you expect to find it. MMI not too complicated tho some manual reading will help.

Reliability & durability

9100 miles in one year and it has been a treat.

Why Not the 2013 Acura RDX?

Feature availability

Things missing that I would love to have had: height adjustability on front passenger seat more play with exterior mirrors power folding mirrors cooled seats

Color choices

Would love a bold red!

Conclusion

Chose this over Mazda CX5(boring interior)
Audi A5(pricey and spotty rep)
BMW x3(pricey with options)
Ford Escape(2013 hadn't yet been on dealer lots)

Very happy after year one.
