Introduction

reliable, well-built. A good balance between handling and comfort. Great engine, hesitant transmission.

Reviewed: 2015 Acura TLX

4dr Sedan 290-horsepower 3.5L V6 9-speed shiftable automatic AWD

Why the 2015 Acura TLX?

Powertrain performance

Engine is a gem. Smooth and powerful. 29 mpg overall. Transmission shifts roughly at low speeds. Known issue. Software update improved it some, but not enough. 9 speed transmission is weakest part of car.

Driving position & visibility

Comfortable seats for long trips. Very good visibility compared to most cars today.

Handling

good balance between sporty and comfort. The SHAWD system is very good. Allows you to take curves much faster with confidence. Has a large turning radius. Would handle better with different set of tires. Acura sells these with crappy tires as original equipment.

Audio & nav systems

great ELS stereo in advance model that I have. Nav is slow to respond, and sometimes chooses bizarre routes compared to google maps. Most functions like seat heaters and fan are controlled by a touch screen. Clumsy. At least they give you a volume knob unlike other Honda Co products.

Materials & workmanship

Car has no squeaks, rattles or visible wear in first 25,000 miles. Interior is very quiet. Good headlights.
