Reviewed: 2010 BMW 5-Series

4dr Sedan turbocharged 300hp 3.0L I6 6-speed shiftable automatic RWD

Why the 2010 BMW 5-Series?

Handling

Turn in feels like that of a smaller car, while handling road imperfections with aplomb

Fuel economy

The turbo allows the ability to extract very excellent fuel economy if driven conservatively, and yet deliver exceptional power when needed (or just desired).

Ride smoothness

Good marriage of cornering with a very "settled" feeling even when turning over rough pavement.

Materials & workmanship

Panel aligment is good, as are interior seams.

Front seat room

All I need.

Why Not the 2010 BMW 5-Series?

Rear seat room & comfort

People 5 foot 3 and above cannot sit comfortably in the back seat on long trips.

Reliability & durability

Terrible reputation for poor reliability and absurdly high repair costs as early as 50,000 miles.

Exterior styling

Square butt and lights are ugly. I think the the front end and cabin is beautiful.
