Reviewed: 2001 BMW 7-Series

4dr Sedan 282-horsepower 4.4L V8 5-speed shiftable automatic RWD

Why the 2001 BMW 7-Series?

Ride smoothness

THIS CAR IS EXTREMELY SMOOTH, SAME AS A MERCEDES OR LEXUS, IN SPITE OF BEING ABLE TO HANDLE LIKE A SPORTS CAR.

Quietness

DROP DEAD QUIET

Exterior styling

BEST LOOKING CAR ON THE ROAD TODAY. I WOULD BUY IT ALL OVER AGAIN WITH ZERO MILES, IF THAT WERE POSSIBLE.

Powertrain performance

THE NEAR 300 HORSE POWER ENGINE, WITH THE "SPORT" TRANSMISSION ON THIS PARTICULAR MODEL PROVIDES IT WITH QUICK ACCELERATION AND PLENTY OF TORQUE. NOT MANY CARS CAN OUT PERFORM THIS CAR, EVEN THOUGH IT IS TEN YEARS OLD.

Why Not the 2001 BMW 7-Series?

Reliability & durability

MANY "WEAR AND TEAR" ITEMS HAVE OCCURRED, INCLUDE HAVING TO REPLACE THE COOLING SYSTEM, REPLACING THE BELTS AND HOSES (WHICH ARE NOT CHEAP) AND AND MOST RECENTLY REPLACING THE REAR BALL JOINTS AND THE ENGINE GASKET SEALS

Depreciation

SADLY, AS THE MILEAGE INCREASES, THE VALUE OF THE CAR DECREASES AT A HIGHER PERCENTAGE THAN LESS EXPENSIVE AND MORE RELIABLE CARS LIKE HONDAS, LEXUS, TOYOTA.

Materials & workmanship

SUN EXPOSURE HAS CAUSED SOME INTERIOR PLASTIC WARPAGE, AND, OF COURSE, ANY AND ALL SERVICING IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN OTHER CARS (UNLESS YOU HAVE A MASERATI), BUT CAR REPAIRS IN GENERAL ARE BECOMING MORE EXPENSIVE FOR ALL CARS AS TIME GOES ON.
