2012 Chevrolet Sonic Pros and Cons at TrueDelta: It's a GREAT First Car for Parents who are looking to Buy their teens a New Car. by Blackapino
Fuel economy
I had a Choice between My Current Car, a Kia Rio , a Ford Focus and Mazda 3. Between ALL these only the Sonic was a Certified Pre-Owned Vheicle and the others were not. The Fuel economy was ALMOST the Same..but i thought the Sonic had faired A Tad bit better.
Handling
The Steering is VERY responsive of course this being it has Power steering but it's Very Smooth when turning and no feed back, VERY Nice.
Powertrain performance
I love the Fact that it GIVES you the option of Manual Shifting with the Auto Package. I haven't TRIED it YET...But rest asure i will.
Safety & braking
It has 10 Air Bags Standard & On Star, enough Said.
Handling
It Handles Nice, a Bit rough when you excelerate, but once it get's past 15mph it starts to behave, it goes once ya SLAM on the pedal, sometimes ya don't even notiice your doing 60 until you've looked at the gauages.
Safety & braking
Sometimes when you begin to Break you can feel it almost brake itself...of course..sometimes ya have to feather the brakes because they WILL engage the ABS is it thinks your hard braking.
Audio & nav systems
Audio isn't TOO bad...but you should think about the 6 speaker set up if your going to get the LS,or The LT model.
Powertrain performance
As I meantioned before in the Pro, it sometimes tend to grumble at start up...but once you get past 15mph...it behaves, the gear settings i beleive is the issuse. It's no 0-60 in 3 secs but it will get up an Go...it's just sometimes ya have to Push it to make it go.
Nice car, preforms well, and the fact that it's ALL AMERICAN amidst Overseas Competion makes it the PERFECT Choice for Parents looking to Buy their Kids a New Car.
