Reviewed: 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

4dr SUV, ext. 285-horsepower 5.3L V8 4-speed automatic 4WD w/low range

Why the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban?

Rear seat room & comfort

Great room and comfort for family of 6. Only vechile in this category in 2002 when purchased. 10 years later still in good shape, and happy with vehicle. Would have considered Ford Expedition EL if had been available.

Ride smoothness

Very comfortable on long trips. Arrive rested, not tired and cramped.

Safety & braking

Feel very confident in this vehicle in any conditions. Only issue has been the dreaded anti-lock brake issue these years seem to be prone to.

Handling

For a very large vehicle, it feels much smaller than it is, and is rather nimble. Steering response is quick, and overall feels more like a car than a truck.

Feature availability

Leather seating, rear AC/Heat, more cup holders than seats, nice feature packages.

Why Not the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban?

Fuel economy

As can be expected, with a large vehicle comes a large appetite. 16-18mpg is average, espeically with the ethanol gas nowadays.

Brand reputation & image

Not overly happy with GM...brake issue not covered under recall for whatever reason. Also don't apprecate the $16 Billion taxpayers will likely never see again (accordning to gov't estimates...don't take my word for it, check goggle.)
