Comfort and space?

Ask the People Who Own One:

2016 - 2024 Chevrolet Volt
smithglobe

I have a 2013 Ford CMax plug in hybrid, which I've enjoyed. The cabin is spacious. But at lease-end, I'm ready to switch, and really like the redesigned Volt. I like the 53-mile electric range, especially. But I'm a bit worried about the more cramped feel of the driver's seat and lack of power adjustable seat and lumbar support. Any owner feedback? How does the new Volt feel after a while on the road?

We recently met someone with a new Volt and he said the backseat is roomier than the older models, and I think he said 3 people can fit in back now (as opposed to 2 peole in older models). Visibility is not great on older model, but has a nice ride, feels solid. Also the new model's console/center stack design is much improved.

In colder weather you will get less than 53 range. http://insideevs.com/gm-discusses-chevy-volt-13-mile-range-drop-in-frigid-temps/ We have a 2013 but wish we leased it, Tesla seems to be one of the few that retains valuehttp://images.hgmsites.net/lrg/value-retention-for-used-plug-in-electric-vehicles-after-1-year-national-auto-dealers-association_100513754_l.jpg

I own a 2017 Volt Premier, I got it about 6 months ago and have put 24,000km (13,000mi) on it since then, it has been nothing but a great car so far.

please keep in mind that this is a compact car, space will not be as great as your current Cmax. the 5th seat in the rear would only be useful for a small child, possibly a child seat. depending on the size of the front passengers you could fit four adult comfortably. but if you have a front passenger or driver over 6'2" ish the front seat moved all the way back, rear passenger leg room is minimal. I have shortish legs so it's not a problem for me.

truck space is adequate, and with the folding rear seats there is plenty of room for a costco run. although for a Ikea run I'll take my pickup truck that I keep around for such occasions.

The front seats are confortable, and the electric range have been very good. I average 80km or so on a charge depending on temperature and how much i use the A/C and how fast I drive on the highway. so far I have averaged over 93% of my driving on electric.

The Chevy Bolt migh give you more space inside than the Volt and should be more comparable to the Cmax you have now. should ther Volt not have the space you need.

The front seat has plenty of room, comfortable, and I dont miss the power adjustable seats I used to have in my last car. Theback seat is very cramped for adults.

The Bolt would be a good alternative IF you can live with the range, and IF you are not a BIG person. Speaking as an owner, I don't think big people would be comfortable in the Bolt seats.
