I don't have a Volt, but I have driven one and everybody I know with a Volt likes it. Owner satisfaction is pretty high. It isn't as reliable as a Prius, but isn't really unreliable either. If you are used to a soft ride, you might think it the Volt's ride is bumpy. More sporty than a Prius. I like that you can go full throttle and it won't kick the gas engine on. If your commuting distance falls within the EV range, it is probably perfect for you.

I drove a Bolt, not a Volt, over the weekend and liked it a lot. The Volt and Bolt make a lot of sense, but which one you buy depends on your commute and ability to charge. Most people fall in love with the EV torque and instant throttle response. The problem with the Bolt is that it doesn't have a charging network and the interior is very cheap including the seats. The 2019 Volt has a lot of new important improvements.

I have a neighbor who owns a Volt and a Prius. Don't know if you deal with snow but the two cars are very different. While the Prius they are afraid to drive up the mountain as with snow tires it tends to pull to the side trying to climb, the Volt has less trouble with its snow tires. I admit it is a 2018 Volt and a 2008 Prius but take it for what is worth.

They plan to get rid of the Prius and move to a Toyota RAV4 (maybe hybrid) soon as they really don't like the Prius in the snow. On the plus side it is over 150,000 and only now is it starting ot have some issues so it has lasted a long time.
