automatic transmission reverse gear stopped working

2006 - 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser

Has anyone had a problem with reverse gear suddenly not working? I can feel it move into place, but doesn't move. Approximately how much did you pay for repairs at a transmission shop or a dealership?
