Engine Missing bad MPG

2010 - 2012 Ford Taurus
A member in California, United States

-have issues with sudden and intermittent engine missing and loss of power. Also mpg has greatly diminished. Have had car to three mechanics and no one can find why this is happening.

has anyone else had this problem and were you able
to resolve?

I'm not sure what I might know that three experienced mechanics would not. The usual suspects include failing ignition coils (which can also fry the engine computer if not replaced promptly) and carbon build-up in the intake, on the back of the valves (common with direct-injected engines), or in the engine.
