Reliability & durability
2004 Honda CR-V - bought 2nd hand 2009 .. on a trip from FL to NC, the A/C blew up -- literally .. cracks down the side of condenser.
Had it replaced with after-market unit when we returned to FL.
Lasted until this past week -June 2019..
The compressor gave out and was replaced by a local mechanic [works only on Hoe rnda vehicles]..
He is the ONLY one who touches my car for repairs since moving to NC.
Honda has never [to my knowledge] said there was a problem with A/C and no dealer has ever said they ever heard of one.. interesting !
There was a Class action lawsuit in which I did recover most of the replacement of A/C in 2009 -- really, a unit only lasting 5 yrs !
The aftermarket replacement lasted twice as long.
Most things done to my CR-V have been maintenance or Honda recall [ air bags ].
Love my car - don't plan on changing - it has what I need and it is paid for -- can't beat that ~
Considering a rear-view camera for safety .
Good ride !
Will not take to a Dealer --- only after purchase in FL.
In NC, I have a well-trusted mechanic [ only works on Hondas ] -- most everyone I know takes their cars to him.
Have seen 3 of same year/model/color as mine in his parking lot !
We keep our cars in NC ..
Had to go to the Dealer to have a key and fob replaced.
Don't need to go there for the same work/maintenance and it costs at least twice as much.
Great capacity --- you wouldn't believe how many bags of pine bark mulch we can haul !
Spouse also 'borrows' it when he purchases something that won't fit in his Mazda trunk.
Lawnmowers have ridden to repair shop, etc.
There are many 2004 CR-Vs in my NC town. I pass out my mechanic's business card to anyone who goes to the Dealer.
Not a fancy car ,, basic but it does what I need.
