5 star rating in certain crash tests, lots of airbags. Small car so it stocks pretty quickly considering only discs in front, drums for rear. The stick does a great job of engine braking and slowing down in traffic.

Why Not the 2008 Honda Fit?
Stock tires are very loud and rough ride. It got better when I put on my winter tires, Nokian Hakkappilitas. Engine revs pretty high when driving faster than 75.
No seat height adjustment makes my bad back scream on longer drives. No lumbar support.
Again, no seat height adjustment. Take out the rear seat headrests for better visibility.
There is no leather or leatherette option. Dog and human hair sticks to everything. They use cheap trunk carpeting for entire floor of vehicle; the stuff is not durable. The plastic dash does scratch pretty easily, it happens when I use solar shade.
