To my understanding the Santa Fe GLS 3.3L can tow up to 2,000 pounds without any special preparation besides the correct installation of the hitch mechanism. But pulling the maximum 2,800 (GLS) or 3,500 (SE and Limited) pounds requires a Touring Package that includes a transmission cooler, upgraded radiator and fan, and trailer wiring.

In some markets and countries, the 3.3L may come with the towing package already installed, BUT the owner has to verify it with the dealer or check the specifications or call the Hyundai Service Support in your country.

Also please read the manual as the towing specifications and requirements are clearly written there.
