Reviewed: 2009 Infiniti EX

4dr SUV 297-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed shiftable automatic AWD

Why the 2009 Infiniti EX?

Audio & nav systems

The 11 speaker BOSE sound system sounds incredible...no comparison to any other car I have driven. Nav system, even though I still have the 2009 program, has yet to fail me. Maps are complete and directions have been spot on and easy so far

Exterior styling

Very aggressive outer shell...body shape flows from one end to the other. Lower profile roof and wide rear end makes it look very sleek

Powertrain performance

297HP and 253lb/ft allow this vehicle to really motor even with its 4400lbs curb weight. Even at higher speeds, the passing gear is very receptive and the RPM's are quite low at these speeds (approx 2600RPM at cruising speed of 65MPH)

Quietness

Ride is smooth and extremely quiet...took a 5 hour road trip and at 70-75MPH a causal conversation was very easy with little to no voice raising. The engine noise is also very low when driving in city or highway, almost have to guess it is still running.

Why Not the 2009 Infiniti EX?

Rear seat room & comfort

In agreement with 99% of all other reviews...back seat is a little small but it isn't to say that you cannot sit back there. Taller people may be a little cramped with head and legroom depending on how far back the front seat is positioned

Fuel economy

17MPG in the city is a little disappointing for a vehicle with such finesse and reputation. I would guess Infiniti would cater to the masses with styling, performance and a little more economy. Not asking for miracles but I'm sure they could squeeze out 3 or 4 more MPG with the same 3.5L V6
