Reviewed: 2006 Infiniti M

4dr Sedan 280-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed shiftable automatic AWD

Why the 2006 Infiniti M?

Handling

Excellent response, fantastic braking and cornering capacity (with BF goodrich performance tires)

Materials & workmanship

Very well done, classy, lots of compliments on the rosewood

Reliability & durability

No repairs to date, 2.5 years.

Insurance cost

Insurance was less than for the G35, I guess because of the demographic. Holds its value, actually went up for me by buying it used from the States (thanks George)

Exterior styling

Very classy, great weight balance with the longer front end.

Why Not the 2006 Infiniti M?

Powertrain performance

Front to rear automatic clutch very clunky, thumps loudly if tire skips on a pothole or object, or if tires close to breaking loose under under heavy excelleration. 4 wheel drive is not pozi- really only two wheel drive in snow, nusience when stuck.

Controls and instruments

Snow features not great- oem-wheel design traps snow, and throws off the balance of the wheels (very annoying). Wheel wells have ledges and protrutions which hold snow, freezes and blocks wheel movement. Low deflector underneath gets car hung up on snow.
