Reviewed: 2004 Isuzu Ascender

4dr SUV 275-horsepower 4.2L I6 4-speed automatic RWD

Why the 2004 Isuzu Ascender?

Exterior styling

Has an upscale look, nicely finished.

Color choices

Can opt for 2 Tone paint scheme

Powertrain performance

Good power and reasonable mileage

Ride smoothness

Rides very well for a truck based SUV

Discounts & incentives

The Ascender is the twin/clone of the GMC Envoy and we were able to buy for $6000 less than a comparably equipped Envoy and our factory warranty is 7 years, 75,000 miles vs 24 months 36,000 miles for the Envoy. This was in 2004

Why Not the 2004 Isuzu Ascender?

Front seat support & comfort

The seatbelt is somewhat uncomfortable. It is designed as an integral part of the driver and passenger seats. As a result it rides fairly hard upon the shoulder. Not unmanageable, just takes some adjustment.
