True story, in 2011 I bought an eight year old Jag S-Type after a fender bender led insurance to write off my 99 Audi A8 (slightly crumpled hood was over ten thousand to fix). Paid $11,000 for a Jag with 123K and took a leap of faith (desire?)

Elegant, elegant, elegant. Love the styling, lovely curves. It's now 13 years old and still am constantly getting complimented on how it's gorgeous. I guess it's a timeless beauty, the Catherine Deneuve of cars. However, I did add chrome trim rings around the front and rear lights - sounds cheesy but actually had the effect of better balancing the proportions, particularly in the front, by adding visual cues and breaks. Jag should have considered this, particularly as the chrome grill is 'orphaned' otherwise. Now it flows visually. The long flowing hood is particularly nice.
Reasons to lover her; Fabulous engine - smooth and powerful. surprisingly good fuel economy for a v8 (avg 21.5 combined but easily get 30 - 35 mpg on hwy). Suspension is suuuperb! Smooth and silky ride even when thrashing it, fantastic cornering, quiet quiet quiet. Very comfortable seats and cabin (but plastic seat height adjust gear broke in cold Canadian winter - lucky it was set right for me). Aircon died due to a short induced by a valve failure, good thing there's a guy in California who'll fix for $125 bucks as that's less than the $1700 the dealers want for the part. Other than a rear sun shade which works but won't rise as it sticks (common issue) everything works just fine and the car is still eager to kick butt at 13 yrs of age and 180,00 K.
So, the verdict - $11,000 well spent on a car that's great to drive all year round (yes winter too - get snow tires). She's a beauty, a keeper and I'll drive her til she drops.
