Driving position & visibility

Seating height is commanding and visibility is excellent, with nearly no structure blocking vision out of any side.

Exterior styling

Retro-themed look (more true to the original design than the JK models).

Interior styling

Easy to maintain and straightforward. There are not many items to unintentionally strike, such as multiple levers originating from the steering column.

Powertrain performance

Strong engine and smooth manual transmission; there never seemed to be a lack of power. The gearing was fantastic and never required a lot of downshifts on steep grades.

Reliability & durability

Only a few emission components required replacement and those were inexpensive items to address.

Quietness

The hard top added a lot of noise insulation, however, for someone accustomed to a pseudo-luxury vehicle with an integrated top, it might be a little loud and high speeds or during high crosswinds on the interstate.

Fuel economy

Fuel Economy is decent for moving box, however, the 18-22 was less than my 1988 Jeep Cherokee.

Cargo capacity

There is limited cargo space in the standard 2002 Wrangler. The seats tumble forward, which they stayed more often than not during its tenure with me, however, with a need to access the rear seating area, a few grocery bags is the limit in the cargo bay.
