Why the 2008 Kia Sportage?

Powertrain performance

Engine & gearbox are smooth when warm. The 4WD system is simple and effective in snow and on rough tracks.

Cargo capacity

The interior has very flexible seating arrangements and the fold flat front passangers seat allows for long loads. Short overhangs help when towing and the unbraked capacity matches the UK legal maximum.

Brand reputation & image

This is my 2nd Kia and the brand has a good reputation with me. I also like the no nonsense image and the exceptional warranty.

Reliability & durability

My previous Kia was totally reliable. The Sportage has the same engine & gearbox and many common fittings so I am hoping for the same (it has positive consumer reviews). The interior is designed for work with a well lined cargo area.

Past personal experience

The past experience is Kia (Carens) rather than the Sportage and the car was totally reliable over 3 years.

Why Not the 2008 Kia Sportage?

Exterior styling

The add on cladding and front treatment is dated (but functional).

Insurance cost

The insurance is fine but Kia still depreciate faster than many other makes.
