CX5 2017 Brake Noise

Ask the People Who Own One:

2017 - 2024 Mazda CX-5

I get a metal to metal grinding noise when I release the brakes gradually from a complete stop. Example moving from a traffic light when it changes to green. You can clearly hear it whether in the car or if you are standing outside.

Mazda dealer says this normal for all cars. But, I havent had this issue with the previous cars I have owned such as Toyota Camry. Also, I dont hear this from other cars if I am stanidng by the side of traffic lights.

Any others who have had this issue, especially with Mazda CX5 2017 model?

Doesn't sound right when it is clearly audible from inside outside of the vehicle.

Can you tell which side of the car it is coming from? Can you repeat every time or does it only happen occasionally?

Premature brake wear is one of the most reported problems with Mazda3, 6, and CX-5 2014-2016. I'm pretty sure the 2017 CX-5 has redesigned brakes because there is a very small amount of reported brake problems. It should be under warranty, right?

Sticky, grinding brakes usually happen on most cars after a car wash or when it rains. It does on our cars.
