I havce a 2013 Mazda CX5. The Nav system is a TomTom based software and is not very reliable. I understand that the 2016 model has a better software system. Anyone have nay experience to report?

I have nothing but good things to say about the nav system in my 2016 CX5. It's reliable, fast, reasonably accurate. I say reasonably accurate due to the fact Google Maps is able to fully account for bad traffic and sometimes provides a faster route. I started out using Google Nav on my phone when I first got the vehicle, but I've since switched to using the on-board nav system almost exclusively (I've had the vehicle for ~6mo now). The menus for choosing the destinationare also really nicely implemented. I'm pleased withthe nav system. I'm not a fan of the voice they've installed with the nav, so I usually turn the nav volume all the way down.

My wife had a 2013 3i and the Tom Tom was horrible. It would freeze up then u would have to stop to take card out to reset. She now has a 2016 CX-5 Grand Touring and the nav is spot on. It even understands the Southern accent. I have never taken the card out to update or from a freeze up. I need to update before our next trip. If her CX-5 has a Tom Tom I don't even notice because it has been error free since the purchase. Now I no why the CX-5 is the top CUV out of all the rest.

I've used the nav once in our '16 CX-5 GT and it seemed pretty good. Still, Google Maps is my preferred choice because of the dynamic routing based on live traffic.
